Taboo - Body Modification

Hi guys! How are you all doing? We hope you guys are
doing great!
So, we are back for another topic.
This time it’s about social taboo.
What is a taboo? A taboo is basically a practice of
something particular that is against the social and religious custom of a
society. It is an act that is happening within a society but since it is against
the lifestyle or belief of that society, it becomes a taboo or forbidden. The best
example to describe the situation is a Muslim having a tattoo. In Islam, it is not allowed for a Muslim to have an inked body part and this means the person has
performed taboo.
Well, that’s quite a long explanation about taboo.
So instead of discussing the morality related to taboo, we would like a share one kind of practice that is interesting yet bizarre. It's body modification.
Body modification means to change one's physical appearance. It may range from the simplest form of body modification such as tattoo or piercing to extreme modifications such as a person changes her entire appearance to look like a cat, for example.
This lady has a combination of tattoos, piercings and surgeries done to make herself look like a cat.
What drives a person to modify his or her body and how extreme can they be?
Well, from the author's point of view, they are basically driven by obsession. It is clear that the lady above is extremely obsessed with cats that she decided to look like one and for her, there is nothing wrong with her looking like that. The author also believes that body modification is addictive. It may start with one or two piercings and then next, it could be a small tattoo at the back of the shoulder then eventually it goes on to a point where it's a combination of both and small surgeries until they look like this :
This is lizard man who has tattooed his face, parted his tongue, made small bumps on his eyebrows and piercing through his nose.
This guy even has knives through his nose. Wicked!
These body-modifiers, their bizarre way of expressing themselves somehow has its toll on them. Even in the western world, they are not socially accepted. Based on the articles I have read, they have a hard time trying to make a living because they cannot find jobs. Many employers do not want to hire them due to their strange looks. I wonder how it will be in our country? Can these body modifiers survive?
